Haiti bezwen ed nou (by Chris Bennett)

Sac passe tout moun. Hey everyone. As you know, it's been a couple of weeks since the devestating earthquake in Haiti, which is arguably the worst disaster that has happened in our part of the world in our lifetime! It breaks my heart.

Many people that I served with, baptized, taught, or had conversations with are now dead or are in serious trouble. I feel helpless to do very much for them. I planned on going with an expedition to help rebuild a hospital and translate for USAID for three weeks. I got the green light from my wife and employer. There was such an overwhelming number of volunteers that I decided not to go at this time, but I still feel like I can be involved by donating to the cause. If anyone is interested in this cause, the website where you can find out more is http://utahhospitaltaskforce.blogspot.com/.

No one person can do very much, but everyone does what they can, a lot can be accomplished. The LDS church has encouraged everyone to help (see the church's website at http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/first-presidency-statement-on-haiti. They have a donation form on the site where we can contribute. There are many other trustworthy organizations that we can support. I felt like supporting the above mentioned rebuilding effort of the Helping Hands for Haiti hospital because it is a project where I can follow the progress, and where it will help the country long term. The main thing is, please help however you can!

If you took the time to read up to this point, God bless you! You're a good person. And mesi anpil!

Haiti Earthquake. Please help and donate!

Friends and family, please help by passing on this information to your network contacts on Facebook, email, at work, at Church, at school, in your neighborhood..etc.
"Healing Hands for Haiti" is flying a group of 150 out of Salt Lake on Wednesday January 27th, 2010 to go and rebuild the Healing Hands Clinic that was destroyed in the earthquake. You can get more information from Utahhospitaltaskforce.blogspot.com.
We can't all go, but we ALL can help!

Because time is so urgent, getting donations is something we really each need to do today! We have no time to spare. Please take a few minutes on this today and help.

Donations should be given to Healing Hands for Haiti, which is a non-profit tax deductible donation. Donations may be made electronically at healinghandsforhaiti.org with the important designation “Utah Hospital Task Force”. Donations may be mailed to Healing Hands for Haiti International Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 521800, Salt Lake City, Utah 84152-1800. Be sure to designate “Utah Hospital Task Force.”

All funds beyond the travel costs will be used for materials for the Healing Hands of Haiti clinic reconstruction and medical supplies.

We need to all do this as quickly as possible – today. Thank you!

Primary - JANUARY song and questions

The Primary presidency has come up with a great idea to involve the children of our Ward in learning and better understanding the Primary songs this year. Each month, a member of the Primary presidency will send me a name of a Primary song along with a couple of questions regarding the song to post on the blog. If your children know the answers, have them go to a member of the Primary presidency's home and get a prize. They don't have to sing the song but simply answer the questions. It's that simple!! Please encourage your children to participate and please check the blog for future monthly Primary songs and questions. This is a fun activity for all children in our neighborhood (members or not-3 and over) to participate.
Are you ready? Here's the song and the questions.
Song: I Know That My Savior Loves Me
Questions:
1) What did Jesus do for the children that were gathered aroung him?
2) Who will help guide the way back to Heavenly Father?

For more info, please contact a member of the Primary Presidency.
